Candy Cane Snowflake Square- FREE Crochet Pattern

Hello, and congratulations- You have almost made it through ALL of 2020! This year has flown by in some ways, and also feels like it was 5 years long at the same time. Good grief, huh? The good news is we are just DAYS away from kicking 2020 in the crotch and moving on to see what surprises lie ahead in 2021.

(ad disclosure: I’m a blogger. We have ads. If you click one, I might get some small compensation. Standard issue, but you can read all about it in my boring privacy policy if you really want to.)

I’m so overjoyed that I was asked to participate in the Hope in the Holidays CAL hosted and organized by my friend Claire at Bear Rye. I had so much fun designing my square and chatting with the other designers. I hope you have been able to make some new yarn friends during this Crochet-A-Long as well, because I have found that one of the greatest parts of staying home almost all year playing with yarn has been all of the new friendships I have made with people all over the world who speak the same language- crochet. Seriously, if everyone in the world could grab a hook and some yarn, I think we could achieve world peace. And I don’t know about you, but I could use some peace in my life right about now!

My square is called the Candy Cane Snowflake, so named because I wanted to make a snowflake and also utilize some striping to resemble a candy cane. (Yes, I am very clever when it comes to naming patterns, I know).

I used a lot of different stitches and techniques for this square, and I hope that you will have so much fun learning new techniques. One of the most frequent stitches used in the square is hdc3l, or half-double crochet in the 3rd loop. Scroll down to see my video tutorial.

Your first st in each round will go in the same st as your slst from the previous round
