Pattern Release: the Snowflake Hat

Each October, my dear friend Christine from Sweet Potato 3 hosts the Crochet Cancer Challenge, and all of the participating designers are so gracious to allow me to claim the October 5th slot in honor of my father's birthday. I designed the Snowflake Hat for this year's Cancer Challenge using my favorite yarn to work with- Lion Brand Ferris Wheel. What I didn't know when I started this design was how much I was going to LOVE creating it- I loved it so much that for the first time ever, I designed 3 versions- Standard beanie, Messy Bun, and Slouchy!

This is my 3rd year participating in this event, and I am so honored that each year I am able to celebrate my dad's birthday with a new hat design. My father passed away from Glioblastoma 16 years ago, and every year my crochet friends are kind enough to let me have the October 5th slot for the Cancer Challenge to honor him.

Point being, if I look cute in the Secret Santa Hat, imagine how cute you are gonna be! I just know you are going to be the hit of every Christmas party, plus grab compliments while you are just out running errands. You will need DK (3) weight yarn and a 5.5mm crochet hook. I always recommend a good supply of stitch markers as well.

I designed my hat for this year's Crochet Cancer Challenge in honor of my daddy. I love that the challenge is held during his birthday month, and I was able to sweet talk a friend who had already called "dibs" on today to trade me days so I could share my dad's hat with you on his birthday!

Pattern Release: the Polar Rush Beanie

The Polar Rush Beanie is now here, and is a super fun and quick hat to make. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky (5 weight) yarn in 2 colors and a 6mm hook to make this beautiful hat that works up in about an hour. The Polar Rush Beanie utilizes my signature Dolphin Stitch to create the gorgeous texture.
