I am so excited to share my new design with you. I completed my design sample in record time- just over 1 week to complete, which is by far faster than I have ever completed a shawl design before. I credit this to how fun this project was to make and how easy it was to work up once I got the initial pattern repeats down.

I hope this means that you will also have lots of fun making this shawl, and it will go extra fast for you!

I saw a brief video of a similar stitch one day, and it was unfortunately linked to a scam website with stolen patterns in a different language. There were many comments on the video from crocheters requesting the pattern in English, so after watching it a few times I came up with my own variation- AND I even made a tutorial video for you, as the pattern itself is quite easy, but explaining the technique in written form was a bit of a challenge and I wanted to give you a visual to go along with what I have written.

You probably know that I absolutely love Lion Brand Mandala yarn in all of its different varieties. I started my Dazzling Bows Shawl using Mandala Sequins in the Tranquil colorway, but soon into the project I realized that I was definitely not going to have enough. I tried to order more, but was unable to locate any that would a) arrive quickly and b) not cost more than a hospital bill, so I was initially going to scrap the beginning and start over with a different yarn entirely, when I saw the regular Mandala in the Troll colorway and thought, “that might match pretty closely!”

Turns out, it wasn’t pretty close. It was the exact colorway as Tranquil, just without the sequins! So I decided to break up a few rows of sequins with rows of unembellished yarn and alternate. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the result if I had used all of either type of yarn!

And the best part? The stitch pattern and the sequin yarn pretty much named the pattern for me. Dazzling Bows really sums it up, I think!

5mm crochet hook

1750 yards DK (3 weight) yarn. I used 2 balls of Mandala in Troll and 2 balls of Mandala Sequins in Tanzanite for my design sample)
