Happy Friday! Over the last week and a half, I have given away over 500 copies of my Mermaid Waves Shawl pattern between The Summer Vibes Blog Hop and the Hooked on Summer Pattern Giveaway, which is so exciting! If you missed your chance to get a copy, I am very sorry, but there are still more FREE patterns available through the rest of the month, so be sure you click the links and get in on this free pattern awesomeness!
I am so blessed to be part of the crochet community. For so many years, I crocheted alone, with only my family to share my creations with. My spouse and daughter were the only people who truly appreciated my craft, and I am so thankful that they did. I only crocheted blankets for the longest time, because I had originally learned to crochet specifically so I could make a blanket, and I was pretty much unaware that one could crochet anything else. Well, there was that time I tried to crochet myself a hat, but that was a comic tragedy! (I wish I knew where that original hat was, or that I hadn’t allowed a photo of me in it to be captured, because you would giggle yourself to tears!) Because of my spectacular failure in hat making, I continued to only make blankets. Using only Double Crochet. My husband loved my blankets, and was so appreciative every time I finished another one. He said, “You never know when you’re gonna need to have a hundred blankets around. Better keep making them!” My daughter, of course also loved my blankets, and always requested new ones as well. Aside from them, I didn’t have anyone in my life who loved crochet to encourage me to grow as a fiber artist.
It wasn’t until about 5 or 6 years ago when Creepy Facebook suggested to me that I might want to join a Crochet Group that I found other people to share my love of hooking with, and started to learn new stitches and techniques. I have made friends with some of the most amazing, talented and encouraging folks from all over the world, and while all of our lives are completely different, we have a common bond- yarn. I have had long conversations over messaging with so many women, and I have yet to find a catty person among them. We may not see eye to eye on favorite foods, television shows, parenting styles, or you know, the general-ness of life in 2020, but we all love yarn, and our differences do not stand in our way of being friends. I wish that all people had crochet to bring them together. I think if people would just sit down and hook together, the craziness of now would die down and we could recognize that we are all people.
I want to share some of my fellow bloggers’ accounts with you, because we all love making new yarn friends, and we want you to be ours too.
If you are not following her yet, you seriously must. I first saw Mary Beth’s Instagram, and I instantly knew I wanted to be her friend. I love how she poses with her designs, and I could just tell she was perfectly goofy and a light to be around.
Trista cracks me up on a weekly basis. We are even Facebook friends now, which is a rare treat as I have been historically reluctant to make friends with “strangers” on the internet. I love Trista’s sense of humor and weekly encouragement as she posts goals and holds me accountable
Krista offers patterns and stitch tutorials, plus a friendly place of encouragement!
Shannon-Jaide has gorgeous patterns and offers tips and tricks to help you become and even better crocheter!
Danielle creates gorgeous patterns, and it seems like she comes out with a new one almost every week! I have been following her for a while, and my mind is blown at the speed she releases new patterns.

Rebekah has tons of great patterns to accentuate your handmade wardrobe as well!
Tonja not only crochets, but she knits too! She has lots of gorgeous home décor and accessory designs, so you should definitely take a peek!
Dena has a whole bunch of great home décor patterns that are easy to learn, and some clothing accessories too!
Susanna is still hosting the Summer Vibes Blog Hop, so be sure you’re following her so you can grab the rest of the FREE patterns still to come this month! She designs some amazing clothing and accessory patterns, and I love the colors she chooses for her design samples!
Sarah designs some fabulous accessories and shares a ton of patterns!
Amber is my CrocheTwin. We always seem to comment the same thing when we join in a conversation in a group. We were hoping to meet face to face earlier this year at a conference, but… The Rona. She is another lucky soul whom I have allowed to be my Facebook friend, and I just love her. She is one of the founders of the Crochetmous Crew, which is a group of talented crocheters who uplift one another and share a love of yarn. Oh, and she designs fabulous earrings, skirts and hats too!
Ashley designs fantastic home décor and accessories, as well as raising a whole gaggle of kids!
If you don’t know of Patty and Paul already, you should really get to know them. They are a husband and wife team who design and create the most gorgeous hooks. I want one so bad, and hopefully for my birthday I will finally get one. I hinted at Mother’s Day that I “need” one of these hooks, but my wishes were denied. So hopefully when November rolls around, he will remember that this is my birthday wish.
Do you love puppies accessorized in yarn? Then you’ll love her! I love seeing pictures of puppies wearing crochet. My hubby is always asking me to design sweaters for our puppies, and believe me I have tried. (The results have been comical) I’ll probably just use one of Melanie’s patterns the next time one of my doggies looks cold!
More accessories and home décor? Yes, please! Michelle has a ton of beautiful patterns, so go take a peek!
Sara and Helen have such a neat story of how they came together, which you can read all about next week when I interview Helen in my second edition of Hooked In. Together, they design all kinds of fabulous patterns!
Sara has lots of great patterns, including some super cute amigurumis made with one of my favorite yarns- velvet!
Amy has a bunch of free patterns and a bunch of kids too! She loves the Big Guy and isn’t afraid to say so, which makes her even cooler in my book!
Mary offers great patterns and tutorials on her blog, so you should definitely check her out!
So there’s just a few of the up and coming crochet bloggers on the web. I hope you find at least a couple of new crochet friends you want to follow. Do you have a favorite crochet blogger you think I should know about? Let me know in the comments!
