Spring is just about here. How about that? Where I live, Spring is usually when we get our biggest snowfalls for the year. Have you ever woken up to over a foot of snow in May? For some of you, that is just crazy. For some of us, that seems pretty normal. Usually, this happens immediately after it was 75 degrees the day before. I learned early on that you can’t just walk out of the door around here wearing a tank top until at least June. You need a sweater or something.

I designed my new Spring Breeze (no-fall) Shawl to be exactly that: A sweater or something. You see, I have always loved shawls. They provide just the right amount of warming up your arms and letting your cute new shirt be visible. But my frustration with them has always been that they have a tendency to fall off and more than likely, land in the mud. Gross, and now I have to choose whether to have cold arms or wear a muddy item. Sometimes, this is not an obvious choice. It can be 65 degrees in the morning and start snowing in the afternoon. If I thought I’d be cute in a tank top because I foolishly thought, “yesterday it was almost 80. Spring is here” and forgot to check the weather forecast before we got yet another blizzard, you can bet your butt I’m wearing the muddy shawl. This is why I am so tickled by my new no-fall shawl. It has sleeves, so when it inevitably slides off of my shoulders, it stays on my cold arms. And I get to look cute all day, without the awkward wearing of a muddy wrap.
I used Lion Brand Mandala baby for my design sample, but this pattern can be made with any 3 weight yarn and a 5mm hook. Depending on the size you desire, it will take 2-3 cakes or 1000-1500 yards of yarn.
This is my very first pattern release of the decade, and I have put literally hundreds of hours into this design. It has been tech- edited and tested in all sizes. I have to give some mega appreciation to my testers. They were so quick and so thorough and made my life as a designer so much easier. Don’t you love the color schemes they each chose? I honestly can’t pick a favorite!
