Wow, I can't believe it is 2019! Last year really flew by, didn't it? I guess when you're busy playing with yarn, time really does escape you. I've really been thinking about the direction I want this little business of mine to go. I had been wanting to start a blog since 2012, but my ideas of what to blog about kept changing so much. First, I wanted to write about grocery shopping. As a wife and mom, I am a champion grocery shopper, but then I thought perhaps other wives and moms are also champion grocery shoppers in their own right. My mom passed away at the end of 2012, and the years that followed found me in probate hell. I thought about writing my blog about that whole ordeal, but my emotions were much too strong and there were other people involved, so I didn't want to open myself to any additional courtroom drama. Once that nightmare finally ended, I had no idea what to write about, and eventually my ideas of blogging fell by the wayside.
Enter 2018, and the beginning of my idea to start trying to turn a profit on my yarn addiction. I found TONS of information and helpful people who have also decided to crochet for money, but the common theme about most of them was that they also HAVE A BLOG. Every step of the way as I researched starting my business, blogging kept popping up. How funny is that? The one thing that has been a constant throughout most of my adult life, crocheting, was the topic I needed to blog about!
But what do I say about yarn, really? Its soft, its warm, I love it? When I go to WalMart for even just one item, I must go to the yarn aisle and caress the skeins. I use words like "ogle" and "fondle", and my daughter always found it creepy- that is, of course, until she started really getting into crocheting herself. We were at WalMart together a few weeks back, and she spent longer than I did loving on all of the yarn! There is a certain satisfaction I get when my daughter finally admits that I was right. On this particular occasion, I was right about yarn fondling- it truly is the best part of a trip to WalMart!
Anyway, back to the point of this post. What do I want to do with this blog? Surely I can't hold your attention by only blabbing about yarn, can I? Perhaps I should sprinkle in a recipe or something here and there? I know one thing for sure though- my 2018 blog posts are not great reading. I'm still trying to find my groove here. I was so worried about going off on tangents and making my posts too long that it seems I rushed the ending of most of them. I will strive to do better, starting with this post. Please feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email at email@example.com if you have anything you'd like to see me write about- after all, this blog is for your reading enjoyment!
I myself am currently making a new baby blanket for the shop. I am following a pattern from another designer and using some of the yarn I got for my birthday. I am really liking how it is coming along! But that's not all I'm working on- I'm still plodding away at that waffle blanket for my husband which I did NOT finish for him for Christmas, and I'm working on designing some cute coasters for Valentine's Day! These fingers are busy, busy, busy, and I am so looking forward to sharing my adventures in yarn with you this year!
